Simple Kitchen Storage Upgrades - How We Made Our Cabinets Work Smarter
The old cabinet was tiny and couldn’t fully open due to the door molding. Though it looked like a good place for baking sheets and cutting boards, it was always cramped and cluttered. Retrieving anything from the back usually meant squatting down and taking everything out first.

Now, all of that goes on the bottom shelf of the pull-out drawer. We installed a few metal dividers to keep items organized and prevent them from tipping. Now, whether it’s a muffin tin or a cutting board, we can grab what we need without the hassle. Plus, it’s so much easier to see everything now that it’s not tucked away in a dark, narrow space.
We still keep flat pans and skillets in the oven’s warming drawer—an old habit that’s here to stay. While we don’t have a ton of kitchen gadgets (for example, we don’t own a crockpot), we do have an oversized skillet for pancakes. You can spot it at the bottom of the stack; it’s almost as wide as the drawer itself. Because, hey—pancakes are serious business!

One more tip is that a quality knife block can be a lifesaver. Keeping knives on the counter in a block instead of in a drawer opens up a lot of space and makes everything feel less cramped.

Alright, that’s enough about the lower cabinets. Let’s take a look at what’s going on up top!
